Pride Month - Rural Rainbows

1-30 June – annually

This annual LGBTIQA+ pride celebration during June is a bring awareness and recognition for all the positive impact / influences the LGBTIQA+ people have had throughout the world. Held in June to encompass the 1969 Stonewall Riots which marked the beginning of global awareness towards our community. This month long celebration is an opportune time raise political awareness, hold community events such as poetry reading, public speaking or host a workshop. As Parades are a prominent feature of Pride month, Victoria holds their Pride March in late January to mark the end of the mid summer festival. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands on which we work and live, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on this land and commit to building a brighter future together.

We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded. We seek to walk together in the spirit of reconciliation.
